China's Veterinarians Learn Latest Animal Care Techniques at International Workshop

Educational Workshop on Latest Veterinary Techniques in China

The Jeanne Marchig International Centre for Animal Welfare Education JMICAWE at the University of Edinburgh has recently hosted an educational workshop med to equip Chinese veterinarians with the latest technologies and techniques. This event was jointly organized by the University of Edinburgh, Animals Asia, Nanjing Agricultural University, the Chinese Veterinary Medical Association, and the Nanjing Public Security Bureau.

The workshop marks a continuation of collaborative initiatives designed to enhance animal welfare knowledge through education and research, focusing on sharing international best practices in veterinary education and integrating innovative methodologies into teaching.

Following this event, there will be an additional workshop dedicated to providing veterinary students at Nanjing Agricultural University with hands-on trning in surgery, anesthesia, and canine population management. The trning will be facilitated by experts from the University of Edinburgh and Animals Asia under a joint program with the Nanjing Public Security Bureau.

This comprehensive approach advance practical skills for veterinarians, including analytical, problem-solving, and advanced clinical techniques. It underscores the growing global veterinary profession's responsibility in ensuring animal welfare while addressing issues like rabies control and e population management without resorting to unethical practices.

Heather Bacon, from JMICAWE at the University of Edinburgh, commented:

Society's expectations are evolving; people now anticipate that veterinarians will ensure animals for food, companionship, or research are well-cared for and managed ethically. International standards in animal welfare are crucial for public health, disease management, and the economic value of animals to society. The veterinary profession must play a pioneering role in promoting respectful treatment of animals within harmonious communities.
