Schaumburg, IL – A groundbreaking new study conducted by the American Veterinary Medical Association AVMA reveals that pet owners overwhelmingly favor veterinarian-led care for their beloved companions. The survey findings underscore the preference of animal guardians and highlight several key observations:
Overwhelming Preference: An astounding 88 of pet owners believe that a thorough in-person examination by a veterinarian yields the best possible outcomes for their pet's health.
Veterinarian Overseeing Care: The majority, 79, prefer a veterinarian to oversee all aspects of their pet’s medical care.
Top Priority: Safety and well-being rank highest among considerations when seeking veterinary care; an astonishing 76 prioritize these factors above any other.
In-Person Consultation: There's a strong inclination towards face-to-face interactions, with 72 preferring to meet with their veterinarian before entrusting them with the care of their pet.
Critical Decisions Under Vetenarian Guidance: An unequivocal majority - 80 - assert that it would be perilous for anyone other than a licensed veterinarian to make life-or-death decisions regarding their animal companion's health.
Dr. Rena Carlson, President of the AVMA, highlights these findings: Pet owners seek confidence in the highest standard of care they can provide for their pets. Our research unequivocally reveals that pet guardians recognize and prioritize the invaluable role veterinarians play in diagnosing conditions through physical examination, facilitating critical diagnostic procedures, and preventing misdiagnoses or delayed diagnosis, which could lead to unnecessary suffering.
Further analysis from the survey indicates an absence of issues with accessing timely veterinary appointments for both routine care and emergencies. The data shows:
Appointment Timeliness: 76 experienced wt times less than one week for appointments.
Emergency Response Speed: For those whose pets required immediate attention, prompt assistance was provided - two hours or less in over three-quarters 78 of cases.
These insights align with current veterinary industry trs suggesting a normalization of demand, returning to pre-pandemic norms.
The comprehensive survey conducted from September 8-14th, involved responses from 1,000 pet owners across the United States.
